Fish and Chicklets
It seems that vegetarianism is going out of style these days, and I'm not the only former vegan turning to fish - Losing My Veginity.
Also new and interesting on The Tyee, the Chick Lit debate.

your food photos are breathtaking and mouthwatering, all at once! i have to admit though -- as a lifelong vegetarian, i feel a little shocked that you've returned to meat consumption. i haven't met many people who've returned to a pescitarian diet post-veggie.
a couple of questions, then, if you don't mind my prying --
what enticed you to reintroduce dairy?
fish?
eggs?
was there an order in which you added in the banished foods? (did eggs come first, or...?)
how'd your body react to the big diet change?
i've always been about eating what feels good for your body. for a long time eating vegan felt right, but then it didn't anymore. part of the problem was that i have a hard time digesting a whole lot of soy/soy products/beans and so i wasn't getting enough protein. plus i kept hearing about all the ways in which fish is good for you and has things you can't get elsewhere. so i experimented with add a bit of fish to my diet, and found i felt better and had more energy, especially for things like working out.
goat cheese, and especially eggs, came later. i still use soy and don't drink milk or eat much regular cheese. i don't imagine i'll ever start eating red meat.
and actually i'm kind of surprised you don't know any lapsed vegetarians/vegans (who've returned to a non-veggie diet), because i've met so many!
and i have to admit that there's a social function involved in all this as well. when you don't have any other friends who are vegan, and start not getting invited to dinner parties because of your diet...well, you start to feel like a bit of an extremist. ;)
i understand... your body's intolerance of soy rings true for me. the first two years after i discovered soy, i ate tofu and other soy products constantly. then, at some point, my body grew intolerant and ever since i have extremely unpleasant digestive reactions when i ingest soy.
tempeh is the exception, and so i eat tempeh weekly if i can. the protein gain is a big question mark; i'm pretty sure i've skirted through the first 27 years of my life using cheese as my main protein intake (you should see my cheese consumption). the three weeks i tried to go vegan in university, i was terribly heartburned; i think it had something to do with the lack of cheese.
i've heard really good things about fish, too.
